Chennai Super Kings Win IPL 2023 Title
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 title on Tuesday, defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets in a rain-hit final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

CSK chased down a revised target of 171 in 15 overs with two balls to spare. Ravindra Jadeja (27 not out off 11 balls) hit the winning runs, a four off Mohammed Shami.
Earlier, GT posted 214 for four in their 20 overs. B Sai Sudharsan top-scored for GT with 96 off 47 balls.
CSK’s bowlers restricted GT to 214 for four after rain interrupted play twice during the Gujarat innings. Dwayne Bravo (3-42) and Mukesh Choudhary (2-26) were the pick of the bowlers for CSK.
CSK’s win is their fifth IPL title, equaling Mumbai Indians’ record. The win also marks a return to form for CSK, who had not won the IPL since 2021.
CSK skipper MS Dhoni was named the player of the match. Dhoni scored 50 off 40 balls and also took a catch.
In his post-match presentation, Dhoni said that he is still not ready to retire from cricket.
“I am still not ready to retire,” Dhoni said. “I still have a lot of cricket left in me.”
Dhoni also praised his team’s performance in the final.
“The team played really well,” Dhoni said. “We were very disciplined with our bowling and batting.”
CSK’s win has been welcomed by fans and experts alike.
“This is a great win for CSK,” said former India captain Sourav Ganguly. “They have been the most consistent team in the IPL and they deserve this title.”
“This is a huge moment for Indian cricket,” said former India opener Virender Sehwag. “CSK’s win will inspire a lot of young players.”
