FBI Gambling Probe Targets Billups, Rozier, and Damon Jones

The FBI’s October investigation led to the arrests of more than 30 individuals, including Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups, Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier, and former Cleveland Cavaliers player and assistant coach Damon Jones.

Terry Rozier allegedly shared inside information with a betting associate, including how long he planned to play in a specific game — allowing the associate to profit from “under” bets.
Damon Jones was accused of giving injury status updates on NBA players, including LeBron James, before public announcements were made.
Chauncey Billups was allegedly involved in a rigged, Mafia-connected poker game that violated federal gambling laws.

NBA Takes Action After Arrests

Following the arrests, both Billups and Rozier were placed on administrative leave. The Portland Trail Blazers named Tiago Splitter as interim head coach. The NBA released a statement pledging full cooperation with law enforcement, saying it would “continue to work with relevant authorities” to protect the league’s integrity.
