Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday released the latest One Day International (ODI) rankings, revealing significant changes in team standings. Pakistan have slipped one place from fourth to fifth, now holding 3,465 points.
Sri Lanka moved ahead of Pakistan into fourth place with 4,009 points. The West Indies also climbed one spot to ninth, pushing Bangladesh down to tenth.
India continue to lead the rankings with 4,471 points, followed by New Zealand in second with 4,160, and Australia in third with 3,473. South Africa are sixth with 2,775 points, while Afghanistan sit seventh on 2,279 points.
The ranking changes come after the West Indies beat Pakistan by five wickets in a rain-affected second ODI at Tarouba on Sunday, leveling the series 1-1.
The match was reduced to 35 overs due to rain. Chasing 181, West Indies faced early trouble as Hasan Ali removed Brandon King for 1 and Evin Lewis for 7, leaving them 12-2. Keacy Carty’s dismissal for 16 added to the pressure, but Sherfane Rutherford (45 off 33) counter-attacked, taking 20 runs off one Abrar Ahmed over.
Captain Shai Hope contributed 32 before falling to Mohammad Nawaz, who also dismissed Rutherford. With the game still in the balance, Roston Chase (49* off 47) and Justin Greaves (26) put on a decisive 73-run stand to seal victory in 33.2 overs.
Earlier, Pakistan’s batting faltered against disciplined bowling. Jayden Seales struck early, removing Babar Azam for a duck and finishing with 3/23. Abdullah Shafique (26), Mohammad Rizwan, and Hussain Talat (31) tried to steady the innings, but regular wickets hindered progress.
Hasan Nawaz’s unbeaten 36 off 30 balls, including three sixes, gave Pakistan a late boost, while Shaheen Afridi added 11*. However, the total proved insufficient against the West Indies’ determined chase.
