MIAMI, June 19 : – Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has been hospitalized after suffering from acute gastroenteritis during the Club World Cup, the Spanish club announced on Thursday.

“Our player Kylian Mbappé is suffering from an acute case of gastroenteritis and has been admitted to hospital in order to undergo a series of tests and follow the appropriate course of treatment,” Real Madrid said in an official statement.
The French forward missed Real Madrid’s opening Club World Cup match against Al-Hilal, which ended in a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.
According to a club source who spoke to Reuters, Mbappé was taken to hospital on Wednesday and had already been isolated from the rest of the squad since Tuesday as a precaution. The source added that he is unlikely to participate in the rest of the group stage.
Real Madrid’s head coach Xabi Alonso also commented after the match, stating that Mbappé had been experiencing “significant viral issues” and was doubtful for their next match against Mexican club Pachuca on Sunday in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Madrid’s final group stage fixture will be against RB Salzburg.
