Third session is ruined by rain after Pakistan removes Australia's openers.

Sydney – After Australia managed a first-inning reply of 116-2 in 47 overs against disciplined Pakistan bowling, the second day of the SCG Test washed out by persistent rain.

Due to poor light in the afternoon session, the players had to leave early, necessitating an early tea break. After the break, rain quickly arrived because the bad weather prevented any more play. Day three will begin at 10:00 a.m. local time, and for the duration of the match, better weather is predicted. Additionally, there is a 50% chance of rain on Friday, most likely in the morning and early afternoon. On Saturday and Sunday, however, there is only a 20–30% chance of showers.

Australia resumed from their overnight score of six for no loss, having batted just one over on the previous day. David Warner and Usman Khawaja continued their sedate progress as Pakistan pacers Mir Hamza and Hasan Ali maintainedaccurate lines and lengths.

After this match, Warner, who is set to retire from Test cricket, gave in to pressure and was dropped by Saim Ayub at first slip despite edging a good-length ball off Aamir Jamal. Warner (34, 68b, 4x4s) was unable to take advantage of the opportunity and was eventually removed by Salman Ali Agha’s sharp spinning delivery, which Babar Azam caught neatly at slip.

Australia continued their cautious strategy in the second session, losing to Khawaja with a total of 38 runs in 17 overs (47, 143b, 4x4s). The Australia opener, who was especially hindered by the absence of runs, was caught by Aamir leg-side.

Following a successful review, the on-field umpire who had originally declared Khawaja not out was forced to change his ruling. Against the Pakistan bowling attack, Marcus Labuschagne (23 not out, 66b, 1×4) and Steven Smith (6 not out, 7b, 1×4) will resume their match today (Friday).
