Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assures of his Support for Academia
Peshawar April 28, 2023: Under the auspices of Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), Higher Education Commission, Pakistan (HEC) in collaboration with selected Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) kick-started Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Volleyball Provincial League here at University of Peshawar.
Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Haji Ghulam Ali was the Chief Guest of the Ceremony whereas Chairman HEC was the Guest of Honor. Prior to formally announcing the opening of Volleyball Provincial League, the guests jointly laid the foundation stone of the state-of-the-art Volleyball Academy at the University.
The purpose of PMYP initiatives is to hunt talent and build infrastructure in the country for inculcating sports culture and providing youth with an opportunity to indulge in physical activities.
In the league, the teams of both men and women from five regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa namely Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Hazara, and Bannu will compete. The outperforming players from these teams will then be selected for attending extensive training camp. The players will be given coaching, training, and mentorship in these camps to enhance their capability. After successful completion of training, two teams from each province would fight for National League.
While addressing the gathering, Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Haji Ghulam Ali said that nations’ progress is the fruit of visionary leadership, and we foresee our youth to be able leaders who will make us proud. He further said that it is the time for educational institutions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to take up the challenge and make our country a self-sustainable state by revolutionizing agricultural sector along with conducting research on mining and minerals of the province.
He maintained that, through the infrastructure establishment in the historic institution, young players of Volleyball will continue their legacy of serving in Pakistan national volleyball team. He also assures of his support to the Academia; recalling his teachers and mentors in his upbringing.
Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman HEC said that I am humble to be part of this historic moment. He said that under PSDP funded projects, HEC is funding Rs. 80 billion to the universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said, the aim of investing multibillion rupees in higher education sector is to provide conducive environment for our youngsters to make them better humans.
The Chairman HEC maintained that we are focusing on every aspect of human development in higher education sector so that the future leaders can make this world a better place to live. He said that despite various challenges, higher education sector is performing efficiently under the able guidance of Vice Chancellors.
He also announced that if young players are talented enough to qualify for International Competitions like Olympics, HEC is willing to finance them so that our players can represent Pakistan on every forum.
He also informed that HEC will sooner formulate an exclusive sports university in collaboration with foreign universities.
Mr. Syed Aqil Shah, Senior Vice President Pakistan Olympics Association said it is indeed satisfying to know that the recurring government is not only focusing on hunting talent players but is also establishing infrastructure to bring long lasting results.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Idrees, Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar greeted the guests and briefed them about the Volleyball academy. He said that through a successful Talent Hunt in the province, we have been able to hunt amazing players who will join the Volleyball Academy next year to become established Volleyball players.
The Vice chancellors of universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Vice Chancellor of FATA University Prof. Dr. Muhammad Jahanzaib Khan, Vice Chancellor of Agriculture University Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Jahan Bakht, Vice Chancellor of Hazara University Prof. Dr. Mohsin Nawaz, Mr. Javed Ali Memon, Director Sports, HEC, officials of Pakistan Volleyball Federation, and former national and international players of Volleyball along with aspiring volleyball players (men and women) also joined the ceremony.
پشاور 28 اپریل 2023: پرائم منسٹرزیوتھ پروگرام کے زیراہتمام ہائیرایجوکیشن کمیشن، پاکستان نے منتخب ہائر ایجوکیشن انسٹی ٹیوشنز کے تعاون سے پشاور یونیورسٹی میں خیبر پختونخوا والی بال پراونشل لیگ کی افتتاحی تقریب کاانعقاد کیا۔ تقریب کے مہمان خصوصی گورنر خیبرپختونخوا جناب حاجی غلام علی تھے جبکہ چیئرمین ایچ ای سی پروفیسر ڈاکٹرمختاراحمد اعزازی مہمان تھے۔ والی بال پراونشل لیگ کے آغاز کا باضابطہ اعلان کرنے سے قبل معززمہمانوں نے مشترکہ طور پرائم منسٹرز یوتھ پروگرام کے تحت پشاوریونیورسٹی میں والی بال اکیڈمی کا سنگ بنیاد رکھا۔
پرائم منسٹرزیوتھ پروگرام کے ان اقدامات کا مقصد ملک میں ٹیلنٹ کی تلاش کرنے، کھیلوں کی ثقافت کو فروغ دینے اور نوجوانوں کو جسمانی سرگرمیوں میں شامل ہونے کا موقع فراہم کرنے کے لیے بنیادی ڈھانچہ کی تعمیر کرنا ہے۔
پراونشل لیگ میں خیبرپختونخوا کے پانچ ریجنز پشاور، مردان، سوات، ہزارہ اور بنوں کی مرد اور خواتین کی ٹیمیں مدمقابل ہوں گی۔ اس کے بعد ان ٹیموں میں بہتر کارکردگی دکھانے والے کھلاڑیوں کو تربیتی کیمپ میں شرکت کے لیے منتخب کیا جائے گا۔ ان کیمپوں میں کھلاڑیوں کو ان کی استعداد کاربڑھانے کے لیے کوچنگ اور ٹریننگ دی جائے گی۔ ٹریننگ کی کامیاب تکمیل کے بعد ہر صوبے سے دو دو ٹیمیں نیشنل لیگ میں حصہ لیں گی۔
تقریب سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے گورنر خیبرپختونخوا حاجی غلام علی نے کہا کہ قوموں کی ترقی دور اندیش قیادت کا ثمر ہوتی ہے اور ہم پر امید ہیں کہ ہماری نوجوان نسل اپنی قابلیت سے ہمارا سر فخر سے بلند کرے گی کریں گے۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ اب وقت آگیا ہے کہ خیبر پختونخوا کے تعلیمی ادارے اس چیلنج کا مقابلہ کریں اور صوبے میں موجود معدنیات پر تحقیق کے ساتھ ساتھ زرعی شعبے میں انقلاب برپا کرکے ملک کو ایک خود مختار ریاست بنانے کی جانب عملی اقدامات کریں۔
انھوں نے والی بال اکیڈمی کے سنگ بنیاد کے حوالے سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ اس اکیڈمی سے خیبرپختونخواہ کے نوجوان کھلاڑی پاکستانی والی بال ٹیم کی نمائندگی بہتر انداز سے کرنے کے قابل ہوں گے۔
پروفیسر ڈاکٹر مختار احمد نے کہا کہ پی ایس ڈی پی کے تحت چلنے والے منصوبوں کی مد میں ایچ ای سی خیبرپختونخوا کی یونیورسٹیوں کو 80 ارب روپے کی فنڈنگ کر رہا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اعلیٰ تعلیم کے شعبے میں اربوں روپے کی سرمایہ کاری کا مقصد ہمارے نوجوانوں کو بہتر انسان بنانے کے لیے سازگار ماحول فراہم کرنا ہے۔
چیئرمین ایچ ای سی نے کہا کہ ہم اعلیٰ تعلیم کے شعبے میں انسانی ترقی کے ہر پہلو پر توجہ دے رہے ہیں تاکہ مستقبل کے معمار اس دنیا کو رہنے کے لیے ایک بہتر جگہ بنا سکیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ مختلف چیلنجز کے باوجود اعلیٰ تعلیم کا شعبہ وائس چانسلرز کی قابل رہنمائی میں موثر کارکردگی کا مظاہرہ کر رہا ہے۔
انہوں نے یہ اعلان کیا کہ اگر نوجوان کھلاڑی اولمپکس جیسے بین الاقوامی مقابلوں میں حصہ لینے کی صلاحیت رکھتے ہیں تو ایچ ای سی ان کی مالی معاونت کرنے کو تیار ہے تاکہ ہمارے کھلاڑی ہر فورم پر پاکستان کی نمائندگی کر سکیں۔
انہوں نے یہ بھی بتایا کہ ایچ ای سی جلد ہی غیر ملکی یونیورسٹیوں کے ساتھ مل کر ایک خصوصی سپورٹس یونیورسٹی تشکیل دے گا۔
پاکستان اولمپکس ایسوسی ایشن کے سینئر نائب صدر سید عاقل شاہ نے کہا کہ یہ جان کر واقعی اطمینان ہوا کہ موجودہ حکومت نہ صرف باصلاحیت کھلاڑیوں کی تلاش پر توجہ دے رہی ہے بلکہ دیرپا نتائج لانے کے لیے انفراسٹرکچر بھی قائم کر رہی ہے۔
پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد ادریس، وائس چانسلر یونیورسٹی آف پشاور نے مہمانوں کو خوش آمدید کہا اور والی بال اکیڈمی کے بارے میں آگاہ کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ صوبے میں ایک کامیاب ٹیلنٹ ہنٹ کے ذریعے ہم حیرت انگیز کھلاڑیوں کو تلاش کرنے میں کامیاب ہوئے ہیں جو اگلے سال والی بال اکیڈمی میں ٹریننگ کریں گے۔
تقریب میں خیبر پختونخوا کی جامعات کے وائس چانسلرزبشمول فاٹا یونیورسٹی کے وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد جہانزیب خان، زرعی یونیورسٹی پشاور کے وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر جہان بخت، ہزارہ یونیورسٹی کے وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محسن نواز، ہائیر ایجوکیشن کمیشن کے ڈائریکٹر اسپورٹس، جاوید علی میمن سمیت پاکستان والی بال فیڈریشن اور والی بال کے سابق قومی اور بین الاقوامی کھلاڑیوں اور والی بال کے نوجوان کھلاڑیوں (مرد و خواتین) نے بھی شرکت کی۔
