As the excitement builds for the much-anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine, the six franchises are ready to participate in the supplementary and replacement draft scheduled for Monday, January 29. With the event set to commence on February 17, the drafting process is a crucial step for teams to fortify their squads.
Replacement Draft Essentials
The replacement draft, conducted online, will witness franchises nominating players to fill the gaps left by those partially or fully unavailable. This includes two players each from the Gold, Silver, Diamond, and Platinum categories, along with one from the Supplementary category.
Supplementary Draft Dynamics
Simultaneously, the supplementary draft provides an opportunity for each franchise to enhance their squads in the third and fourth supplementary pick rounds. This strategic move allows teams to address specific needs and strengthen their line-ups before the commencement of PSL 9.

Grand Kickoff and Match Locations
Marking its initiation on February 17, 2024, at the PCB’s headquarters in Lahore, PSL 9 promises an electrifying start. The opening clash features the Lahore Qalandars, the two-time champions and current titleholders, locking horns with Islamabad United, winners of the 2016 and 2018 editions.
The tournament spans across four vibrant cities—Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi—culminating in the final showdown at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on March 18. In total, six teams will compete in 34 T20 matches, ensuring cricket enthusiasts a riveting spectacle.
Match Distribution and Home Grounds
Karachi will host a total of 11 matches, including the Qualifier, two Eliminators, and the final. Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi will each host nine matches, while Multan, renowned as the city of saints, is set to witness five thrilling encounters.
Keep an eye out for the highly anticipated clash between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings scheduled for February 24 and March 9. Gaddafi Stadium and the National Bank Stadium will be the venues for these intense face-offs.
Two-Leg Format
Adhering to the format of the previous edition, PSL 9 unfolds in two legs. The first leg, from February 17 to 27, will feature matches at Multan Cricket Stadium and Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, totaling 14 matches. Subsequently, the cricketing action will shift to Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium and Karachi’s National Bank Stadium, where 16 matches will enthrall fans from February 28 to March 12.
