NEW YORK: Fox Sports has officially parted ways with NFL analyst Mark Sanchez and announced that Drew Brees will join the network as his replacement.
A Fox Sports spokesperson confirmed the move to The Associated Press, stating, “Mark Sanchez is no longer with the network. There will be no further comment at this time.”

Sanchez has been off the air since October 4, when police said he was stabbed during a fight with a truck driver outside an Indianapolis hotel. He now faces felony battery and misdemeanor charges related to the altercation, which prosecutors say began over parking. The truck driver, Perry Tole (69), has also filed a civil lawsuit against Sanchez and Fox Sports.
Brees will replace Sanchez on Fox’s No. 4 NFL commentary crew, teaming up with play-by-play announcer Adam Amin and sideline reporter Kristina Pink. His first game is scheduled for November 16.
🏈 Drew Brees Returns to Broadcasting
Brees retired from the NFL in 2020 after a 20-year career with the San Diego Chargers and New Orleans Saints, leading the latter to their only Super Bowl victory in 2009.
After retirement, Brees joined NBC Sports in 2021 as a college football and studio analyst but parted ways the following year. He made a guest appearance on “Fox NFL Sunday” earlier this season and is also set to work as an analyst for one of Netflix’s Christmas Day NFL games.
“Drew is one of the best to ever play the game,” said Brad Zager, Fox Sports President of Production & Operations. “We’re thrilled to welcome him and his unique insights to the Fox Sports family.”
Brees expressed gratitude for the opportunity, adding,
“I hope my passion for this game is reflected in the knowledge and insights I provide to fans each Sunday.”
Currently, Brees ranks second all-time in NFL history in both passing yards (80,358) and touchdowns (571). He is also among the 52 modern-era players being considered for the 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame.
⚖️ Mark Sanchez Faces Trial
Meanwhile, Sanchez’s legal troubles continue. An Indianapolis judge has scheduled his trial for December 11.
According to a police affidavit, Sanchez — allegedly under the influence of alcohol — accosted Tole, entered his truck without permission, and physically confronted him. Tole responded with pepper spray before using a knife in self-defense when Sanchez advanced.
Sanchez suffered stab wounds to his upper torso, while Tole sustained a deep facial slash, as shown in photos from the incident.
Sanchez, who retired in 2019 after a 10-year NFL career, previously played for the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, and Washington Football Team. He joined Fox Sports as an analyst in 2021 after two years with ABC and ESPN.
