LAHORE – The Wapda men’s basketball team, which won the National Men’s Basketball Championship last month, met with Chairman Wapda Engr Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (Retd), who also serves as the organization’s patron in chief. Attendees included representatives from the WAPDA Sports Board, Member Finance, Member Power, General Manager (Hydel) Operations, Advisor Sports, and Manager of the WAPDA Men’s Basketball Team.
The team’s outstanding performance in the championship was praised by the chairman. He declared that taking home the national title is an incredible accomplishment. In order to continue their winning streak, he gave the Wapda team advice on how to organise and carry out practice and training sessions for the upcoming events.
Wapda has spent more than 50 years making significant contributions to the nation’s sports development. It has launched several programmes, such as the “Wapda Endowment Fund for Sports,” to raise the bar for sports in Pakistan and benefit athletes. 36 male and 29 female teams play across 65 different games on Wapda. Wapda has finished second in 22 sports disciplines and as a national champion in 34. WAPDA players also win a resounding majority of Pakistan’s medals in international sporting competitions.
