Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal have officially submitted a transfer bid for Victor Osimhen, after failing to convince Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes to make the switch to the Middle East.

Al-Hilal are aiming to secure a blockbuster signing this summer to boost their squad under new head coach Simone Inzaghi, who recently joined the club from Inter Milan. After missing out on long-term target Mohamed Salah, who chose to stay at Liverpool, the Saudi club turned their focus to Bruno Fernandes with a massive £700,000-per-week offer — but the Portuguese midfielder declined.
“The president of Al-Hilal contacted me, and they were ready to welcome me,” Fernandes confirmed. “I could’ve joined easily, as I know several Portuguese players there. But I want to continue playing at the highest level and compete for major trophies.”
Victor Osimhen Becomes Top Transfer Target
With Fernandes opting to stay at Manchester United, Al-Hilal have shifted their attention to Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, a player also being closely monitored by Manchester United as they look to strengthen their attacking options.
According to renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Al-Hilal have made an official bid worth €65 million (£54.7 million) with an additional €5 million (£4.2 million) in performance-based add-ons. However, Napoli are expected to demand the full release clause of €75 million (£63 million).
Despite the initial bid, Al-Hilal are reportedly willing to meet the release clause if necessary to secure the Nigerian star.
Osimhen’s Future: Saudi Arabia or Premier League?
Victor Osimhen, 26, was previously linked with Chelsea and Al-Ahli in past transfer windows. After failing to secure a deal, he spent the 2024–25 season on loan at Galatasaray, where he delivered an outstanding performance — netting 37 goals in 41 appearances and helping the club to a league and cup double.
While a move to the Saudi Pro League would offer substantial financial rewards, many football experts and former players are encouraging Osimhen to join the Premier League instead. Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel recently stated:
“I hope he still gets a move to the Premier League. Clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United need a top striker. I don’t believe Rasmus Højlund is the right option for United at the moment.”
