The 13th Inter-School & Inter-College Games 2025 came to a remarkable close with a vibrant and well-attended closing ceremony at Punjab Stadium, Lahore, on Friday. The event, organized by the Punjab Sports Department, showcased the province’s commitment to nurturing young sporting talent and promoting physical fitness among students.

Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry Graces the Ceremony as Chief Guest

Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab, Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry, attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. The event was also graced by Director Admin Abid Shaukat, prominent sports figures including Idris Haider Khawaja (CEO, Punjab Olympic Association), Arshad Sattar (Wrestling Association), and Mian Rizwan (Dodgeball Association).

A large number of school and college athletes, coaches, and spectators were present to celebrate the achievements of young sportsmen and sportswomen. On this occasion, Idris Haider Khawaja presented a souvenir to DG Sports Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry in recognition of his contributions to sports development in the province.

Spectacular Performances and Trophy Distribution

The ceremony featured a disciplined march past by student athletes representing their schools and colleges, creating a colorful and spirited atmosphere. The audience was entertained by gymnastics and aerobics performances, highlighting the diverse sporting skills of Punjab’s youth.

Following the performances, DG Sports Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry distributed trophies and awards to the winning school and college teams, acknowledging their dedication and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

Punjab Sports Department’s Commitment to Youth Development

Speaking to the media, Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry congratulated the Punjab Olympic Association for successfully organizing the event. He emphasized that the Games serve as a strong foundation for developing future sports champions.

He proudly mentioned that Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, trained at Punjab Stadium. “I am confident that many of these young athletes will follow in his footsteps and become future stars,” he remarked.


Scholarships and Financial Support for Athletes

Highlighting the Punjab government’s efforts to uplift sports, Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry revealed that the Punjab Sports Endowment Fund continues to support talented athletes through monthly stipends.

“More than 100 players are receiving scholarships worth Rs 70,000, Rs 50,000, and Rs 30,000 based on their performance and potential,” he said. This initiative aims to ensure that promising athletes have the financial stability to focus on training and performance.


Sports Infrastructure Development Under CM’s Vision

DG Sports further explained that under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister, the Sports Department is committed to organizing top sporting events and developing world-class infrastructure across the province.

He shared that major sports facilities are being expanded at Nishtar Park Sports Complex, including projects like the Climbing Wall, Padel Tennis Courts, and Board Games Arena. Secretary Sports Punjab Muzaffar Khan Sial recently inspected these development sites to ensure timely completion and high-quality standards.


Future Plans for Inter-School and Inter-College Games

Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry concluded by appreciating the continuous efforts of Provincial Sports Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar for promoting sports culture in Punjab. He announced that the next edition of the Inter-School & Inter-College Games will be even larger and more competitive, engaging more institutions and providing wider exposure to young athletes.
