World Rugby has published the ranking permutations for the women’s internationals in Asia and Africa on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Permutation highlights:
- Hong Kong China will provisionally slip below Fiji if they are beaten by the lower ranked Kazakhstan in the Asia Rugby Women’s Championship 2023 opener on Tuesday.
- Kazakhstan must win by more than 15 points to improve on 19th place. A win by this margin would see them jump three places to 16th and swap places with Hong Kong China.
- A win for Hong Kong China will see them swap places with the Netherlands, reclaiming the 15th place they lost following their defeat to the Dutch earlier this month.
- Defeat would see Kazakhstan drop below Sweden to equal their lowest ever ranking of 20th.
- South Africa cannot improve their rating with victory over Kenya due to the 19.63 points difference between the two teams.
- The Springbok Women cannot fall from 13th even with a heavy defeat as they would still sit at least 2.05 rating points above Russia below.
- Kenya must win by more than 15 points to climb above China in 22nd and set a new high for the Lionesses in the rankings.
- Madagascar cannot gain enough points by beating Cameroon to improve on 28th spot as even a win by more than 15 points would leave them 0.43 points behind Belgium above.
- Cameroon will provisionally slip one place to a new low of 30th in defeat with Tonga the beneficiaries.
- Cameroon will become the higher ranked of the two nations with a draw, climbing above Madagascar into 28th.
- A win by more than 15 points would see Cameroon match their previous high of 25th and see Madagascar fall two places to 30th.
- The rankings will also take into account the opening round of the Oceania Rugby Women’s Championship 2023 on Friday and the climax of the regional competitions in Africa and Asia on Sunday, so any gains are only provisional until the completion of these matches.
