Shan Masood: Leading Yorkshire a 'great honour'

BIRMINGHAM, England (Daily Olympic Report) — Pakistani cricketer Shan Masood said leading a club like Yorkshire in English county cricket is a “great honor” and a matter of pride for him.

Masood, who is the first Pakistani cricketer to captain Yorkshire, made the remarks in an interview with Geo News after Yorkshire’s defeat in the opening match of the T20 Blast tournament against Birmingham Bears.

“It’s a great honor to be captain of a club like Yorkshire,” Masood said. “This is a club with a rich history and tradition, and it’s a privilege to be leading the team.

“Masood, who is also the first Pakistani player to captain a county team in England, said he was excited about the challenge of leading Yorkshire.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge of leading Yorkshire,” Masood said. “I know it won’t be easy, but I’m confident that we can be successful.

“Masood, who missed the first few weeks of the season due to his commitments with the Pakistan national team, said he was still adjusting to his new role.

“It’s always difficult to adjust to a new role, especially when you’re not playing regularly,” Masood said. “But I’m working hard and I’m confident that I’ll be able to adapt to my new role quickly.

“Masood said he was disappointed with Yorkshire’s loss in the opening match, but he was confident that the team would bounce back.”We’re disappointed with the loss, but we’re not going to dwell on it,” Masood said.

“We’re going to learn from our mistakes and we’re going to come back stronger.”Masood said he was looking forward to the team’s next match against Worcestershire Rapids.

“We have a few days to rest and prepare for our next match,” Masood said. “We’re going to use this time to work on our weaknesses and we’re going to come out all guns blazing against Worcestershire.
