Nahid Shines with Key Wickets in Morning Session of Rain-Affected Test

21-year-old Nahid dismantles Pakistan’s top order, taking crucial wickets of Shan Masood, Babar Azam, and Saud Shakeel.

The morning session of the rain-affected Test match belonged to 21-year-old Nahid, who delivered a powerful spell of bowling to dismantle Pakistan’s top order. Nahid’s express pace and accuracy saw him dismiss Shan Masood (28), Babar Azam (11), and Saud Shakeel (2), giving Bangladesh a strong foothold in the game.

This Test match has been heavily impacted by rain, with the entire first day on Friday being washed out. However, Sunday brought a dramatic turnaround for Bangladesh, who mounted a remarkable fightback after a shaky start. The visitors were reeling at 26-6 in response to Pakistan’s first innings score of 274. But a brilliant seventh-wicket partnership of 165 between Liton Das (138) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (78) rescued Bangladesh, allowing them to post a total of 262.

On Monday, Pakistan resumed their second innings at 9-2 and managed to reach 47-2 in 10 overs. However, Bangladesh quickly struck back, taking three wickets for just 18 runs. Saim Ayub was the first to fall, caught brilliantly by Najmul Hossain at mid-off after failing to keep a drive off fast bowler Taskin Ahmed down.

Nahid then took over, dismissing Pakistan captain Shan Masood, who was caught behind by Liton Das off a reckless shot. In his very next over, Nahid claimed the prized wicket of Babar Azam, who was caught at slip off a sharp delivery. Nahid continued his excellent form by removing Saud Shakeel, going into the lunch break with impressive figures of 3-22 off just five overs.

This outstanding performance by Nahid has given Bangladesh a crucial edge in the Test, as they continue to fight back after the rain-disrupted start.
