Mandhana, Athapaththu Move Up in ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings

Left-handed openers Smriti Mandhana of India and Chamari Athapaththu of Sri Lanka have progressed in the ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings after stellar performances in the Women’s Asia Cup held in Dambulla.

Mandhana has advanced one spot to fourth position following scores of 55 not out against Bangladesh in the semifinal and 60 against Sri Lanka in the final, nearing her career-best second position. Athapaththu has equaled her career best by moving to sixth position after scoring 49 not out against Bangladesh, 63 against Pakistan in the semifinal, and a match-winning 61 off 43 balls in the final.

Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana has ascended three spots to 14th position, India’s Jemimah Rodrigues has moved up one place to 18th, and Sri Lanka’s Harshita Samarawickrama has re-entered the top 20 after her Player of the Match performance of 69 not out in the Asia Cup final.

Pakistani Players on the Rise

Pakistani players have made notable gains in the latest rankings update. Wicketkeeper Muneeba Ali has jumped six places to 35th in the batting rankings, showcasing her growing influence in the T20I format. Aliya Riyaz has also progressed, moving up two places to 52nd position.

In the bowling rankings, Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal has climbed one spot to fourth after her impressive four-wicket haul in the semifinal against Sri Lanka. This performance highlights her continued impact in international cricket.

Other Pakistani players making strides include Aliya Riyaz, who has shown improvement not only as a batter but also as an all-rounder. Her advancements are a testament to the depth and talent present in the Pakistani squad.

Other Notable Movements

In addition to the progress made by Pakistani players, several other cricketers have also risen in the rankings. Wicketkeepers Nannapat Koncharoenkai of Thailand (up three places to 37th) and Theertha Satish of the United Arab Emirates (up four places to 60th) have also moved up in the rankings.

India’s Radha Yadav has jumped seven places to 13th, and Sri Lanka’s Udeshika Prabhodhani (up six places to 24th), Sugandhika Kumari (up four places to 27th), and Kavisha Dilhari (up five places to 30th) have all made significant advancements in the bowling rankings. Dilhari has also risen 19 places to 96th among batters and moved up 10 places to 17th among all-rounders.
