Chakwal to Train Youth for Free at Sports City: Khurram Abbasi Tony

Arshad Nadeem Made Us Proud by Winning Gold at Paris Olympics, Says Khurram Abbasi

Lahore – Khurram Abbasi Tony, Chairman of Ocean Group, which is constructing a world-class Sports City in Chakwal, stated that Arshad Nadeem’s gold medal win at the Paris Olympics has made Pakistan proud, making him a leader for Pakistanis across the globe. In honor of his achievement, a grand reception will soon be held in Chakwal to celebrate his success.

Speaking to the media, Khurram Abbasi highlighted the vast untapped sports talent in Pakistan, particularly in his hometown of Chakwal. However, due to a lack of facilities, many youths have been drawn toward negative activities. In response, he has established a Sports Complex to channel the talents of the younger generation in the right direction. The Chakwal Sports City, being constructed on 800 kanals, is progressing rapidly and will offer free sports facilities to athletes from across the country.

The complex already boasts a floodlit cricket ground, and will soon include other facilities for hockey, football, gymnastics, swimming, and athletics. Additionally, a Gymkhana Club with around 100 rooms is also in the works. Khurram Abbasi emphasized his long-term goal: to see multiple athletes like Arshad Nadeem represent Pakistan at the Olympic Games and bring home medals. He remarked that with a population of over 250 million, one gold medal is insufficient for a country like Pakistan, and he is working under this vision to produce more champions.

Khurram Abbasi further stated that Chakwal Sports City will be open to youth from all over Pakistan, offering free access regardless of race, color, wealth, or gender. Highly qualified coaches will be on hand to guide and train players. If a player requires international training, they will also be sent to the best training centers around the world. His mission is to elevate the green crescent flag of Pakistan on global sports platforms.

He also called upon the private sector to contribute to raising Pakistan’s standing in the world of sports. Philanthropists should support youth in their areas by providing them with sports facilities, so more athletes like Arshad Nadeem can emerge. Khurram Abbasi concluded by advocating for the provision of Islamic education alongside modern education, stating that many of Pakistan’s issues stem from a distance from religion.

The aim, he said, is to produce athletes capable of winning World Championship medals and to inspire a new generation of sporting talent in Pakistan.
