According to the Asian Cricket Council’s Invitation for Expressions of Interest for sponsorship rights, the tournament will feature 13 matches with six teams: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and a sixth team determined through a qualifying event.

While dates are not finalized, sources suggest the tournament may be held in September, post-monsoon season.

India’s 2024 schedule, as per the ICC’s Future Tours Programme, includes a limited-overs series against England in January-February, the Champions Trophy in February-March, an England tour from June to August after the IPL, followed by three ODIs and T20Is in Bangladesh. The Asia Cup is expected between the Bangladesh series and a two-match Test series against the West Indies in October. The BCCI has yet to finalize the venues.

There will be no men’s Asia Cup in 2026, but the Women’s Asia Cup will be played in T20 format that year, followed by the men’s U-19 and Emerging Teams Asia Cup tournaments.

Reflecting on the recent history of the Asia Cup, the 2023 edition was played under a hybrid model due to political tensions between host nations. Pakistan hosted a few matches at home, while India played all its fixtures in Sri Lanka. This arrangement was a logistical challenge but was successfully managed by the ACC. India, under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, emerged victorious in the tournament. They clinched the title by defeating Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the final held at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. This victory added another feather to India’s illustrious cricketing cap and set a high benchmark for the upcoming editions of the tournament.

As the cricketing world looks forward to the 2025 Asia Cup in India, the anticipation is building around the venues and the schedule, which are yet to be officially announced. Fans are eager to see their favorite teams compete in what promises to be a thrilling T20 tournament. The successful execution of this event will not only bolster India’s reputation as a premier host of international cricket tournaments but also provide a significant boost to the sport in the region. With teams like India and Pakistan bringing their intense rivalry to the fore, the 2025 Asia Cup is poised to be a memorable chapter in the annals of Asian cricket.
