Bashir’s Olympic Dream Shattered

Karachi – Pakistan’s Olympic hopes suffered another setback as Ghulam Mustafa Bashir, a World Championship bronze medalist, failed to qualify for the final of the 25-meter rapid pistol event at the Paris Olympics.

Despite a promising start, Bashir couldn’t maintain the momentum, finishing with a total of 581 points, falling short of the top six required to advance to the medal round.

His journey came to an abrupt end, leaving Pakistan with just one athlete, Arshad Nadeem, still in contention for a medal.

The javelin star is scheduled to compete in the qualification round on August 6, with the final set for August 8. All of Pakistan’s hopes for a medal now rest on Nadeem’s shoulders.

With six out of seven Pakistani athletes eliminated, the nation’s Olympic campaign has been a disappointing one thus far.
