Lahore, Pakistan – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif officially inaugurated the newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium Lahore on Friday, as preparations intensify for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, set to take place from February 19 to March 9.

Accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, and senior government officials, PM Shehbaz commended the stadium’s rapid transformation. He directed PCB to recognize the hard work of laborers involved in the renovation by arranging a visit to London for them.
During his address, the prime minister praised Pakistan’s national cricket team for their recent performances and expressed hope that they would bring glory to the nation, particularly in their much-anticipated match against India in Dubai. He also celebrated Pakistan hosting an ICC event after 29 years, assuring that the Punjab government and PCB would implement strict security measures.
Star-Studded Opening Ceremony at Gaddafi Stadium
The grand inauguration event was attended by top politicians, PCB officials, PSL franchise owners, and former PCB chairmen Zaka Ashraf and Najam Sethi. The celebration featured live performances by popular Pakistani singers Ali Zafar, Arif Lohar, and Aima Baig, along with a dazzling fireworks display, a drum performance, and a mesmerizing light show—all open to the public for free.

Upcoming Matches at Gaddafi Stadium
Before hosting the Champions Trophy 2025, the stadium will stage two matches of the Pakistan vs New Zealand vs South Africa tri-nation ODI series on February 8 and 10.
Additionally, the venue will host four Champions Trophy matches, including the crucial second semi-final on March 5. If India fails to qualify for the final, the grand finale on March 9 may also be held in Lahore.
