High-Performance Coach Yasir Arafat appointed

LAHORE – Yasir Arafat, a former Test all-rounder, has been named Pakistan’s cricket team’s high-performance coach. In the five Twenty20 Internationals against New Zealand that are set to take place in New Zealand from January 12 to 21, 2024, he will be a member of the team management.

For Pakistan, Yasir, 41, played in 13 Twenty20 Internationals, 11 ODIs, and three Tests. He became the first cricketer from Pakistan to complete an ECB Level 4 coaching course at Loughborough University. Along with Australia’s Perth Scorchers, a Big Bash League team, he has also served as a bowling coach for county teams like Sussex and Surrey. He most recently served as the national team’s bowling coach for Hong Kong.

In addition to coaching, Yasir has made appearances for a variety of T20 teams in league cricket across the world, including Otago and Canterbury in the domestic T20 league of New Zealand. Yasir will lead the five-day camp in Lahore from December 29 to January 2, which is being held in order to prepare for the tour.
