Pakistan to Send Security Delegation to India for ICC World Cup Venue Review

In preparation for the highly anticipated ICC World Cup, Pakistan is taking necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of its team and supporters. A security delegation from Pakistan will embark on a visit to India to assess the security arrangements at the various venues where Pakistan’s matches are scheduled to take place. This move highlights the importance placed on the well-being of the players and the need for a secure environment during the tournament.

“The security delegation will go with representation from the PCB to inspect the venues where Pakistan will play and also the security and other arrangements made for them in the World Cup,” an official source in the Inter-Provincial Coordination (Sports) Ministry was quoted as saying by Press Trust of India on Saturday.

“Before any tour to India, it is standard practice for the cricket board to seek permission from the government, which normally sends a delegation to India,” the official said.

During their visit, the delegation will interact with officials and engage in discussions to inspect the security and other arrangements made for the players, officials, fans, and media who will be attending the tournament.

“The delegation will interact with the officials there and discuss and inspect with them the security and other arrangements for our players, officials, fans, and media, who will go for the tournament,” the official stated.

As part of their commitment to transparency and collaboration, the PCB has expressed that they will share the report generated by the delegation with both the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) if any concerns arise during their inspection.

“The PCB will share the report with the ICC and BCCI if the delegation has any concerns.”

Earlier, the PCB shared its official stance on the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 after its schedule was released by the game’s governing body on Tuesday.

According to a PCB spokesperson, the board “requires the Government of Pakistan’s clearance for any tour to India, including the match venues”.

“We are liaising with our government for guidance, and as soon as we hear something from them, we will update the Event Authority [ICC]. This position is consistent with what we had told the ICC a couple of weeks ago when they shared with us the draft schedule and sought our feedback,” the spokesperson added.

This reaffirms the PCB’s dedication to following the necessary protocols and seeking clearance from the government before confirming their participation in the ICC World Cup.

The schedule for Pakistan’s matches in the ICC World Cup 2023 remains as follows:

  • October 6: Pakistan vs. Qualifier 1 in Hyderabad
  • October 12: Pakistan vs. Qualifier 2 in Hyderabad
  • October 15: Pakistan vs. India in Ahmedabad
  • October 20: Pakistan vs. Australia in Bengaluru
  • October 23: Pakistan vs. Afghanistan in Chennai
  • October 27: Pakistan vs. South Africa in Chennai
  • October 31: Pakistan vs. Bangladesh in Kolkata
  • November 4: Pakistan vs. New Zealand in Bengaluru
  • November 12: Pakistan vs. England in Kolkata

The ICC World Cup 2023 is scheduled to be held in India from October 5 to November 19, promising an exhilarating display of cricketing excellence on the grandest stage.
